Habitat: freshwater, estuaries and grassland

Widespread and resident (although largely introduced)

Largest "grey goose" with dark brown upperparts, orange bill and pink legs

Swims on the surface, walks on and grazes grassland

Feeds on grass, grain and roots; strong flight showing grey forewing

Nest is a scrape near water

1 Brood April – May; 4-6 white eggs
