This small fragment of ancient woodland has a wide range of trees, including small-leaved lime, a tree characteristic of very old woodlands that used to be widespread but (probably because of long-term climate change) is now very unusual. It lies in a stream valley and is very wet, which makes for a variety of woodland flowers.
