This country park has been developed on the open land adjoining the former Warley Hospital near Brentwood, sloping steeply down to the railway. Much of it has been colonised by woodland and scrub, and additional native trees have been planted. It also has a stream and a reedy pond. With such a mix of habitats, a good variety of breeding birds can be seen in spring and many insects are on the wing in summer.
