This area of former grazing land opposite the Hutton industrial estate in Brentwood was recently acquired by Brentwood Council to form a new country park. At present it is mainly open grassland with some thick hedges and scattered patches of woodland and scrub. It has some marshy areas with tall aquatic vegetation and is bordered on its northern edge by the River Wid.
Members of the Brentwood & Billericay local group of the Essex Wildlife Trust started wildlife surveys here in 2000. Bird and insect life is already good and it will be interesting to see this develop as Brentwood's Countryside Management Service takes the site in hand.
