A fragment of ancient woodland in Little Thurrock, in the eastern part of Grays. It has a number of deneholes – caves which are the remains of medieval chalk mines – which are used by bats for hibernation and roosting. (These are not accessible to the public.)
Visiting
Accessed via a public footpath which runs from the western end of Stanford Road (A1013), near the roundabout where it joins Lodge Lane.
