A marshy meadow with reedbeds and boardwalks, between the Chelmer estuary and the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation. Look and listen for breeding birds such as reed warblers from May onwards; later, in summer, look for dragonflies and other flying insects.
Visiting
Access to Causeway Meadow and Elms Farm Park from Tesco car park via Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation towpath, or join the towpath via seawall footpath. Elms Farm Park also has a small car park on Heybridge Approach (B1018). Heybridge Creek can be reached via a public footpath off The Causeway near the Benbridge Hotel roundabout, or via Hall Road.
Free park-and-ride bus to Tesco store. Buses from Maldon to Witham, Tiptree and Tollesbury run along The Causeway.
